LUBRICANT WILL BE A LIQUID-OIL, OR A SOLID, OR AN INTERMEDIATE PRODUCT-GREASE WHICH MAY RANGE FROM SEMI-FLUID TO SEMI-SOLID.

ADVANTAGE OF USING GREASE:-

1) COST

2) ASSIST SEALS AS OIL REQUIRE MORE EFFECTIVE AND EXPENSIVE SEALS.

3)  VERTICAL SHAFTS ARE INVOLVED, EFFECTIVE SEALING OF OIL IS QUITE DIFFICULT &   COSTLY .

SEALING GREASES IS LESS COMPLEX & ECONOMICAL.

A)   TO DECRERASE DRIPPING & SPATTERING OF LUBRICANT.
B)   TO DECREASE FREQUENCY OF LUBRICATION
C)   TO SEAL OUT CONTAMINANTS.
D)   FOR INTERMITTENT OPERATION.
E)   TO SUSPEND SOLID ADDITIVES.
